Setting an intention is different from setting a goal. Goals are supposed to be specific, measureable, achieveable etc. An intention is much larger. It is sort of a giant, hot air balloon just hanging out there waiting for just the right manifestation of energy.
Last year, I set a couple of intentions that have been my daily mantra ever since. The primary one was "I desire to create that which inspires people to be well". When asked, I would always admit that one of the outputs I desired to create was a book. That admission would lead to the inevitable question, "A book about what?" to which I have consistantly replied, "I have no clue".
One of the reasons I began writing Wellness Moments was to practice expressing thoughts and observations in ways that were not scientific. It turns out it IS possible to write a sentence without referring to statistics!
The short version of this story is this: 1) A few months ago, I was invited by an esteemed colleague to help him (his words) "create something really cool that would help people be more healthy" and 2) I was also invited by another colleague to write a book which we have called "Finding My Marbles".
I have my own interpretation but you can fill in your own here. Perhaps setting intentions and focusing energy on them is a practice that I will apply consistently from now on.
